Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador does NOT work for timeshare criminals.
President Obrador of Mexico has had a stellar, 40 year career in politics and has had many prestigious appointments in the last 3 decades as a national level politician.
At no point however did he do illegal work stealing money for bogus timeshare “law firm” Abogados Las Alas.
Even the name under the president’s picture is not real. Alberto Canbamo Farola yields no Google results other than the Abogados Las Alas website itself and several timeshare consumer websites exposing him as a fake.
The stolen picture is cropped from a larger photo (below). The 2019 image is of President Obrador meeting with important bankers in Mexico City, including BBVA world president Carlos Torres Vila. The photo is reproduced (albeit with the Mexican flag on the left side cropped out) at the bottom of the Las Alas homepage. The implication being that these are all team members of the criminal site.
There are other notable giveaways that website is not trustworthy, including a picture of a cheque with a non existent IBAN number, other invented staff members and a fake CIF (Spanish company number).
Daniel Keating of the Timeshare Consumer Association commented that: “While this degree of audacity might be amusing on some levels it serves as a warning that the timeshare reclaim and relinquishment marketplace is sadly still a major target for fraudsters.
“The tell-tale details in this case are obvious when pointed out but there are other, more sophisticated thieves out there, waiting to take money from vulnerable timeshare victims.
“Prospective timeshare claims clients should not be put off from seeking compensation or relinquishment from illegal contracts, but we do urge them to seek trustworthy, impartial advice before handing over any money.
“You can contact us here at the TCA on the details below, and we will give you our current recommendations for the best firms operating at the moment. We we will also give you feedback on any organisation you are dealing with already, or that you are thinking about retaining to pursue timeshare compensation claims or relinquishments.”
